Course Description

In this course, students will be introduced to concepts in Music Therapy, Music Medicine, Dance/Movement Therapy Laban Movement Analysis, and Somatic studies techniques for health, healing and wellbeing.  Class sessions will focus on developing the student’s understanding and experience of these approaches on a personal level, how they are currently being used in specific health care settings and in relationship to specific patient populations, illnesses and diagnoses. Research surrounding these approaches will be reviewed and analyzed and integrated into course assignments. Class sessions will be didactic and experiential and will include readings, lectures, participatory exercises and class discussion.
