Course Description
This course is designed to introduce students to the field of Equine-Assisted Services (EAS) and to the range of therapeutic and learning opportunities found within equine interactions.
Five domains of practice in EAS are covered and include physical, social, cognitive, psychological and spiritual contexts.
The course presents concepts which helped develop various types of EASs and shape the practice. Students will learn the necessity for safety guidelines and precautions/contraindications in EAS sessions. Students will observe therapeutically trained horses demonstrating course concepts by developing an EAS program plan for an assigned target population.
