Course Description

Nature Immersion (also known as forest bathing, shinrin-yoku, nature-based mindfulness) is a practice that brings about physical health, mental wellbeing, and spiritual renewal.

We live in an unrelenting, fast-paced world that keeps our minds distracted and our bodies disconnected from the natural world. Too frequently, do we devote time to computer screens instead of enjoying the stillness of a place outdoors in nature. Nature Immersion takes us out of our busy lives and reconnects us with the natural environment and ourselves.

This course will explain the theories, practices, and science behind Nature Immersion (Forest Bathing, Shinrin-yoku, Nature-Based Mindfulness) and guide you through your own practice with experiential activities. You will apply what you learn and experience with case studies, online discussion, as well as develop a final project focusing on a specific tree species and its ecosystem services.
